Course Objectives:

We emphasize proactive hazard identification and precise machine control. By the end of this session, participants will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of skid steer physics and the proper procedures for digging, traveling, and loading.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Hazard Assessment: Spotting site risks, overhead obstructions, uneven terrain, and soft ground conditions.
  • Equipment Fundamentals: Identifying the functions of all controls, gauges, safety interlocks, and the ROPS/FOPS systems.
  • Tipping Prevention: Reading capacity data plates and avoiding actions that compromise machine stability, especially on inclines.
  • Operational Rules: Best practices for traveling with loads, grading, and parking safely on active sites.

Training Details:

  • Location: 3001 Snow Eagle Drive, Fort McMurray, AB.
  • Duration: Approximately 6 hours (includes practical component).
  • Certification: Upon successful completion (80% minimum on both theory and practical components), you’ll receive a certificate.
  • Re-certification: Required every three years.
  • Prerequisites: All students must bring valid government-issued identification.
  • PPE Required: 6″ safety boots, safety gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, and hi-vis vests.
  • Cancellations: 24-hour notice is required. Late arrivals or no-shows will forfeit the full course fee. Qualified substitutions are permitted up to the course start date.
