Course Overview:
We don’t just teach you how to drive; we teach you how to work safely in a heavy industrial environment. From managing stability on a busy laydown yard to understanding the blind spots of a large loader, our training is tailored for the realities of the Oil Sands.
Key Course Modules:
- Loader Efficiency: Techniques for digging, carrying, and dumping material without wasting fuel or time.
- Forklift Safety: Handling awkward industrial loads, pipe, and pallets safely.
- Hazard Assessment: Identifying site-specific risks like overhead cranes, soft ground, and pedestrian traffic.
- Equipment Care: How to perform a proper winter start-up and inspection.
Training Details:
- Location: 3001 Snow Eagle Drive, Fort McMurray, AB.
- Two Day Duration: New & Experienced operators – Approximately 6 hours each day (includes practical component).
- Certification: Upon successful completion (80% minimum on both theory and practical components), you’ll receive a certificate.
- Re-certification: Required every three years.
- Prerequisites: All students must bring valid government-issued identification.
- PPE Required: 6″ safety boots, safety gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, and hi-vis vests.
- Cancellations: 24-hour notice is required. Late arrivals or no-shows will forfeit the full course fee. Qualified substitutions are permitted up to the course start date.

A: Yes. WestPro’s certification meets the OHS competency requirements for operating powered mobile equipment. However, always check if your specific site requires additional internal evaluations.
