Course Objectives:
We prioritize the “Rigging Triangle” and precise load control. By the end of this session, maintenance technicians, shop labourers, and oilfield service workers will understand how to secure irregular loads and navigate them through busy Grande Prairie shop environments without incident.
Core Curriculum:
- Hitches & Configurations: Proper use of basket, choker, and vertical hitches to maximize stability for industrial loads.
- Center of Gravity: Techniques for finding the balance point of uneven loads (like compressors, gearboxes, or forestry equipment).
- Pre-Shift Checks: Mandatory visual inspections of the hoist, hook, and limit switches before use.
- Safe Zones: Establishing drop zones and keeping personnel clear during the lift.
Training Details:
- Location: 65021 Highway 43, Grande Prairie, AB.
- Duration: Approximately 6 hours (includes practical component).
- Certification: Upon successful completion (80% minimum on both theory and practical components), you’ll receive a certificate.
- Re-certification: Required every three years.
- Prerequisites: All students must bring valid government-issued identification.
- PPE Required: 6″ safety boots, safety gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, and hi-vis vests.
- Cancellations: 24-hour notice is required. Late arrivals or no-shows will forfeit the full course fee. Qualified substitutions are permitted up to the course start date.
