Course Overview:
Hosted at our Edmonton Operations Centre on 110 Avenue NW, this streamlined day of training covers the essentials of working at heights. You will learn how to inspect and wear your harness (Fall Prevention) and then immediately apply that knowledge to operating boom and scissor lifts (AWP).
What You Will Learn:
- Fall Prevention (AM): Harness inspection, calculating fall clearance, and understanding anchor points.
- AWP Operation (PM): Safe operation of Scissor Lifts and Boom Lifts, including stability and emergency controls.
- Integrated Safety: How to properly tie off inside a basket and prevent ejection hazards.
- OHS Compliance: Meeting Alberta’s competency requirements for both fall protection and powered mobile equipment.
Training Details:
- Location: 20204 110 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB.
- One Day Duration: New and Experienced operators – Approximately 8 hours (includes practical component).
- Certification: Upon successful completion (80% minimum on both theory and practical components), you’ll receive a certificate.
- Re-certification: Required every three years.
- Prerequisites: All students must bring valid government-issued identification.
- PPE Required: 6″ safety boots, safety gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, and hi-vis vests.
- Cancellations: 24-hour notice is required. Late arrivals or no-shows will forfeit the full course fee. Qualified substitutions are permitted up to the course start date.

A: No. This combo includes the 4-hour Fall Prevention course. If you need the 8-hour Energy Safety Canada (OSSA) Fall Protection for oil sands work, you must book that separately. This combo is ideal for commercial and light industrial work.
Q: Do I need Fall Prevention to operate a scissor lift in Edmonton?
A: While not always mandatory for scissor lifts (depending on site rules and guardrails), it is highly recommended. For boom lifts, fall protection is legally required. This combo covers all bases.
