How It Works:
This is a two-step process designed to save you time while maintaining the highest safety standards.
- Online Theory:Register with Energy Safety Canada to complete the 3-hour theory component online.
- Skills Assessment:Bring your proof of completion to Ketek Edmonton for the mandatory hands-on skills verification.
What We Evaluate:
- SCBA Competency: Donning and doffing a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus correctly within required time limits.
- Function Tests: Performing pre-use inspections on breathing equipment.
- Rescue Drags: Demonstrating the ability to physically drag a casualty to safety.
- Gas Detection: Proper use of detector tubes and electronic monitors.
Training Details:
- Location: 20204 110 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB (Easy access from Anthony Henday & Yellowhead Trail).
- Duration: Approximately 1 hours
- Certification: Upon successful completion (80% minimum on both theory and practical components), you’ll receive a certificate.
- Re-certification: Required every three years.
- Prerequisites: All students must bring valid government-issued identification.
- PPE Required: 6″ safety boots, safety gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, and hi-vis vests.
- Cancellations: 24-hour notice is required. Late arrivals or no-shows will forfeit the full course fee. Qualified substitutions are permitted up to the course start date. Late arrivals that are denied entrance to the class, or who fail to attend the class without notification (no-shows), will forfeit the full course fee. Qualified substitutions will be allowed up to the course start date in lieu of forfeitures.
NOTE
All students are required to bring government-issued identification. If verification is not provided, the student will not be permitted to take the course. Valid Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive certificate.

Q: Can I take the Blended Renewal if my H2S ticket has expired?
A: No. You must have a current, non-expired H2S Alive certificate to be eligible for the Blended Renewal. If your ticket has expired, you must take the full 1-day in-class course.
Q: Do I pay Ketek for the whole course?
A: No. You pay Energy Safety Canada directly for the online theory portion, and you pay WestPro separately for the in-person skills assessment.
Q: Where is the practical assessment located in Edmonton?
