Indoor Crane, Rigging & Hoisting – Grande Prairie

WestPro’s Grande Prairie Hoisting & Rigging Course equips workers with the skills to safely pull engines, maneuver heavy industrial pumps, and handle large components common in the forestry and energy sectors. We focus on hazard prevention and the correct selection of rigging gear to prevent dropped objects and equipment failure.

Course Objectives:

We prioritize the “Rigging Triangle” and precise load control. By the end of this session, maintenance technicians, shop labourers, and oilfield service workers will understand how to secure irregular loads and navigate them through busy Grande Prairie shop environments without incident.

Core Curriculum:

  • Hitches & Configurations: Proper use of basket, choker, and vertical hitches to maximize stability for industrial loads.
  • Center of Gravity: Techniques for finding the balance point of uneven loads (like compressors, gearboxes, or forestry equipment).
  • Pre-Shift Checks: Mandatory visual inspections of the hoist, hook, and limit switches before use.
  • Safe Zones: Establishing drop zones and keeping personnel clear during the lift.
