Red Cross – Babysitting Course – Grande Prairie

Hosted at our Grande Prairie facility, the Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Course equips young adults with the practical skills required to care for children of all ages safely. Through engaging, hands-on activities, students will learn how to manage routines, mitigate risks, and respond effectively to emergencies, all while building a foundation for leadership and business professionalism.

Course Curriculum:

  • Emergency Preparedness: Basic first aid steps and how to handle unexpected medical situations.
  • Infant & Toddler Care: Hands-on practice with feeding, diapering, and safe sleep protocols.
  • Risk Management: Identifying hazards in the home and preventing injuries before they happen.
  • Behavioral Management: Techniques for guiding children’s behavior positively and effectively.
  • The Business of Babysitting: How to market their services safely, set rates, and communicate professionally with parents.
  • Personal Leadership: Cultivating independence, accountability, and quick problem-solving skills.

Training Details:

  • Duration: Approximately 7–8 Hours (Completed in a single day).
  • Learning Style: Instructor-guided roleplay, group exercises, and practical skills application.
  • Certification Received: Canadian Red Cross Babysitting Completion Certificate
  • Renewal Requirements: None! This certification is valid for life with no expiration date.
  • Cancellations: 24-hour notice is required. Late arrivals or no-shows will forfeit the full course fee. Qualified substitutions are permitted up to the course start date.

Q: At what age can my child become a certified babysitter in Grande Prairie?
