About Instructor
Darko Slankamenac,
Sr Driver Instructor
Darko brings over 25 years of driver education experience, having begun his career after graduating from college in Europe. His background spans both standard driver training and highly specialized rehabilitation work. He spent nearly 15 years with Alberta Health Services as a Driver Rehabilitation Specialist, evaluating and training individuals with physical, cognitive, or visual impairments to drive safely. Before joining WestPro Safety & Training, Darko was a Senior Driving Instructor at Advance Driving School, further deepening his expertise in professional driver education. Outside of work, Darko has had a remarkable career in water polo. A professional player in Europe, a dedicated coach to youth teams on both continents, served as Director of Sport for a professional club in Europe, and contributed to coaching the Canadian National Team.

Q: What is a Blended Course?
Step 1 – Learn Online
Complete the theory component from anywhere, on your schedule. Our online modules are straightforward and designed to get you ready for the practical.
Step 2 – Train In Person
Come into our WestPro location to complete the hands-on portion with a certified instructor. This is where you put your knowledge to work. Once both steps are complete, you’re certified and ready to go.
Q: Is the WestPro driver training curriculum approved by the government?
Yes. All WestPro driver education programs strictly follow the most up-to-date Alberta government-approved curriculum.
Q: Do I have to take the driving theory classes in person?
No. WestPro offers highly flexible theory training. You can choose to complete your theory online at your own pace, through virtual instructor-led sessions, or through traditional in-class learning.
Q: Where do the in-car driving lessons start and end?
For your convenience, in-vehicle lessons include pick-up and drop-off from your home, work, or school within our designated local service areas. Pickups may also be arranged from a central training center.
Q: What happens if I fail my first road test?
If you are enrolled in the Ultimate New Driver Program and do not pass your first road test attempt, you will receive a complimentary two-hour brush-up lesson (a $125 value) with an instructor to review and correct key skills before your next test.
Q: What kind of cars do you use for driving lessons?
Once you complete your theory training, all hands-on, one-on-one student instruction is conducted in a safe, easy-to-learn automatic vehicle.
